Endometriosis is a condition in which the lining of the uterus is invaded by endometrial tissue, resulting in uterine hyperplasia that microscopically reveals non-neoplastic endometrial glands and stroma surrounding the enlarged and thickened myometrium.
Endometrial tissue, including glands and stroma, is located randomly within the myometrium, and many researchers believe that endometriosis (i.e., "internal endometriosis") is a variant of endometriosis. The causes or developmental events that may be responsible for endometriosis are usually unknown. The most widely accepted theory regarding the etiology of endometriosis is that it may be due to the downward growth and involution of the basal layer of the endometrium into the myometrium.

Factors such as smooth muscle weakness and Endometriosis is typically diagnosed increased intrauterine pressure, either alone or in combination, may contribute to the development of endometriosis. Furthermore, endometriosis is maintained by high levels of estrogen and impaired regulation of the growth of abnormal endometrial tissue associated with the immune system. in women aged 40-50 years, but it is occasionally diagnosed in younger women undergoing infertility evaluations or experiencing symptoms of dysmenorrhea and heavy menstrual bleeding. Endometriosis can be diagnosed using ultrasound, MRI, and histological examination of biopsy specimens. Endometriosis is responsible for abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, and infertility.
Endometriosis is generally treated with the same medications used to treat endometriosis. Aromatase inhibitors, oral contraceptives, danazol, dimethicone, GnRH agonists, prostaglandin and progesterone antagonists, and Chinese herbal products have been used to control menstrual pain and heavy menstrual bleeding in patients with endometriosis. Furthermore, endometriosis can be treated with uterine artery embolization, myomectomy or myomectomy, electrocoagulation of the myometrium, and myomectomy reduction. Surgical excision is preferred if medications fail to provide relief.
